Christmas in July-My Scrap Chick The Nutcracker

    My Scrap Chick

I made these cards for my daughter and her family...so read on for the rest of the story.

My oldest grandson Cole has been enamored by Nutcrackers since he was just little...(maybe 2 or 3ish) and he is almost 10 now! Where has the time gone?

When we would go to the stores in December we always had to scope out the 5 foot tall Nutcracker at JC Penny's holiday section. He would stand there with the Nutcracker towering over him for the longest time checking it all out. Oh such a fond memory.  When he was little he had a little boy pronunciation for  Nutcracker-  (nutcrachkkkkker)-needless to say, the pronunciation has stuck to this day.

So The Nutcracker will be Cole's Christmas card, Mom and Dad will get the tree and brother Lukey had to get a card equally cool, so he gets the Mouse King!

This is a full set the includes the Nutcracker Prince, Mouse King, Christmas tree, Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy. What a deal!

I made them in to cards by grouping the elements of each file together and tracing.  I cut the inside white insert from this first trace. I then did a .50 offset and cut 2 in craft paper.  I did cut a portion off the top of the white insert to allow the two craft pieces to be stuck together (and get rid of bulk as well) with red tape-you need something strong to hold them together. I added a little score line to the back craft piece so I could bend it to "hinge" and open easily.

The Nutcracker Prince

Here you can catch a glimpse of  how each file is created into a card. I wish you could see the shiny gold and silver papers I used on these cards...

This Mouse King just makes me smile!

Lovin' this fun 'curly' Christmas tree!

Penny Black Saturday Challenge-Flowers In the Garden and Special Thoughts

                         Penny Black  Saturday Challenge

July Challenge

Flowers

Oh my...can you spot the real ant in this picture...good grief! Reminds me of my beginning days of stamping (back in 2000) when we all had ant stamps and we used to stamp an ant over our boo boos.  A little touch of love LOL!

Hello there Penny Black fans!

I told you I just had to make another insta-cube pop up box card-so here it is. These can be so addictive and so fun to pop out of their sleeve cover. A fun little surprise that sort of startles you when you pull it out!  I used several Penny Black stamp sets for this pop up card-the sentiment is from the set Special Thoughts and the images are from In The Garden.  As you can see, the little kitty left his tracks all around the cube.

Father's Day Projects

Just popping in to show you a couple Father's Day projects I made this year.  Not much crafting time these days, but the Dad's look forward to their specially made projects so I can not disappoint!

This is a big box-7.25 x 3 finished size and holds a lot of Dad's favorite candy! The lid pulls off to allow you to fill it with all the favorite goodies that Dad likes.  I really think this is a project that could be resized smaller and come out just as cute.

I adore how this pops in to a cube when you pull it out of the sleeve!!! I can't wait to make another one of these-in fact I have one in process already.
Note: I did add extra layers to all the matting  pieces, but that's just my thing :).

Baby Belly Cards -My Scrap Chick

 My Scrap Chick

Aren't these babies the cutest design???
These files are from My Scrap Chick(see link above)

I always seem to need new baby cards and these cards are definitely one of my all time favorites.

I used some of my SU! blush cardstock stash and chalked the edges with pink and brown for the skin and pink/blue on the diapers. I also added a little pink gingham ribbon on my sweet little girl!

Ouchie-My Scrap Chick

                           My Scrap Chick

Sometimes you find just the right card for the right reason at the right time...

Heel Soon-Foot Shaped Card

My coworker had foot surgery and boy oh boy-this cut file from My Scrap Chick fits the bill perfectly! Don't you just love it when that happens?

It was very simple to assemble...but I did find myself saying out loud..."this little piggy went to market, and this little piggy..." when gluing on all the little toesies!

Just a little chalking and printing the sentiment and it was done.  I did make an inside piece to write a message on, but totally unnecessary!

I hope this cheers up her day-it did mine :)!

You're my type-Penny Black Saturday June Challenge -Masculine

June Challenge

Masculine

Hello, it's me...(LOL-are you singing along with Adele yet?)

For my card today, I tried to stay in 'manly' colors of green and black. I love these wild kitties-they have the funniest expressions!

I colored the You're my type! Penny Black cling stamp and cut the image out with stitched square dies from Lawn Fawn and added my 'typed' sentiment using an old alpha set named Typewriter ABC set by Nostalgiques.

I added the paper on the desk as a 3d element (more to cover the big blob left by a newly overfilled copic..:( -in the end-all is good!

Graduation Card-My Scrap Chick

Happy Graduation! It is that time of year-all the pomp is just around the corner.

For my card today-I used parts of three different
My Scrap Chick files.

I used the card base from the School paper easel card as well as the ruler and A+ elements.  I did resize the card base (and the added elements) so that my Smart Chick would fit nicely.  I think my card was enlarged to about 4x6.    I actually had my fun little Smart Chick made up already, so I tailored the card base to fit her. That's a little backwards, but hey-it worked!
I added a mortarboard cap on Ms. Little Smart Chick. Instead of making the Grad Cap file in to a card, I resized it to fit my smart chick and used only one side of the hat base and added it flat to the front of the card and then added the triangle part on pop dots.

I do hope you have enjoyed my projects today.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge-Tom and Tilly

May  Challenge Mid Way Inspiration

Wedding, Anniversary and And All Th
ings Love

I made this card for my parents. They have been married 67 years!  Sometimes I just like to tell them how much I love them - they love the cards I make for them.

The stamp I used is named Tom and Tilly (40-098). Got to love a wonderful Mo image!
I colored with my copics and kept the card very simple-I think this image says it all...the sentiment is from Tim Holtz.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mothers Day to all my Crafty Friends!

Mom Wreath Card-designed by Lori Whitlock

Just had to pop in real quick to show you this pretty card I made for the  Mothers in my life.  I used a pretty file from the Silhouette Store designed by Lori Whitlock.  I made the card base in two different colors...white/black and pink/white.  What is your favorite?  Unfortunately the pics of the pink card were blurry except for the close up one at the bottom of this post. I did make it a wee bit different (to cover up a boo boo-the mother of invention right?  The pink card I cut just the front panel and added it to the front of the white card base.  The white and black one is a complete base and design(does the make sense?)

I hope you all enjoy your day!

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge-Summertime

Mid Way Reminder
#240

SUMMERTIME

Summertime...I would love to be at a warm beach drinking a fun little froo-froo umbrella drink-wouldn't you?  Well let's go!

I created a little summer scene with an older stamp named Lemon Lips  and a few summer elements cut with my Silhouette.  I cut the oval window with a Lawn Fawn oval die. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Chit Chat set and the paper is from MME.

I am unsure if this stamp has been reissued by Stampendous -they do rename them when they re-release them-so you might check it out on their site.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge for May- Purr-fectly Sweet

May  Challenge

Wedding, Anniversary and And All Things Love

My card today is totally inspired by it's wrapping! I am using
and on the back stamp insert the sample shows wonderful green rolling hills and a heart tree. Well I drew in the green hills and added the companion sentiment to finish off my card.  I stamped the image twice and  and cut out I U  and added it on with pop dots. Both base panels were cut with Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles.

Well-- let me show you what happens when you are crafting in the wee hours ... I am not telling what I said when I realized what I did! ...It was not pretty! Ha!
